Emily
Emily Rindos

Assistant Director
(406) 994-7862

Emily has been with the Center since July 2009. In the time since, she has collaborated with CIPM and its partners on numerous projects. A few highlights include: writing the MRWC-EDDMapS iPhone app; coordinating the Weeds Across Borders 2010 conference and editing the Proceedings; designing and launching a new CIPM publication, the CIPM Quarterly; and working with the Missouri River Watershed Coalition as coordinator of the Outreach and Awareness Workgroup. Emily finds that the need for effective outreach and science communication mechanisms is great—and knowing that she can help fill these needs makes her job extremely rewarding.

Emily's duties as Assistant Director include: technical writing and editing; writing and designing reports and various other publications; collaborating with the Director on grant and other funding applications; developing outreach and education materials; coordinating and facilitating conferences and workshops; and serving as editor of the CIPM Quarterly newsletter.

A Montana resident for over 15 years, Emily enjoys traveling, cooking, skiing, and hiking in her spare time.

Scott
Scott Bockness

Project Leader, Missouri River Watershed Coalition—Conservation Innovation Grant
(406) 208-7657

In August 2010, CIPM and the Missouri River Watershed Coalition (MRWC) received a $1 million grant from the Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) Conservation Innovation Grant (CIG) program to fund a three-year project that will provide knowledge and benefits to producers and land managers throughout the Missouri River Watershed and will serve as a pilot project for the western region and potentially the nation.

Scott joined the CIPM staff as MRWC—CIG Project Leader in December 2010. Prior to this position, he was Superintendent of the Yellowstone/Bighorn County Weed District. In previous years, Scott was involved with multiple saltcedar management projects along the Yellowstone River and became painfully aware of the ecological impacts of Russian olive and saltcedar on Montana's riparian areas. As a member of the MRWC Executive Committee, Scott became committed to pursuing funding opportunities, such as the NRCS—CIG program, to address these issues.

In his new position as MRWC—CIG Project Leader, Scott will work with the Coalition to investigate methods to effectively mitigate impacts of the target invasive plants and explore their potential as bioenergy products. Furthermore, Scott is passionate about developing solutions to regional issues, an interest that fits perfectly within the missions of both CIPM and MRWC.

Kitty
Kitty Weiss

E-Communications Coordinator
(406) 994-7551

Kitty joined the CIPM staff as E-Communications Coordinator in February 2010. Among her primary duties is acting as webmaster for the Center's website, which includes coordinating website content, designing new pages, and technical programming. Kitty ensures that the website remains up-to-date, adding new jobs, events, outreach materials, and much more on a daily basis.

Kitty also designs, builds, and maintains websites for CIPM's partners, including the Western Weed Coordinating Committee and the Missouri River Watershed Coalition. Kitty's expertise isn't limited to web design, however; she also assists the Center's partners with outreach efforts such as brochures, logos, posters, and other marketing materials.

Kitty has worked in the communications and graphic design field for over 10 years. Prior to joining the Center's staff, she worked for a magazine, as a freelance graphic designer, and in event planning. Although she has no background in invasive species, she finds the topic very interesting and enjoys learning something new every day.
