City of Portland Requires Eradication of Fifteen Nuisance Plants
(Posted July 7) - The City of Portland wants to make sure that 15 species of invasive plants do not get a chance to become established in the city. Beginning July 1st, Portland property owners will be required to remove from their property any plant species on the city’s new Required Eradication List.

After Nearly Two Decades, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Launches Scientific Journals
(Posted July 7) - The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service recently announced the release of the inaugural issue of the public domain Journal of Fish and Wildlife Management (JFWM) and the re-launch of the prestigious North American Fauna (NAF). These Web based journals focus on the practical application and integration of science to the conservation and management of North American fish, wildlife, plants, and the ecosystems upon which they depend.

Field Mapping Coordinator

With oversight from the Mapping Program Manager, take a lead role in our initiative collecting spatial data on invasive plant distribution around the state. Carbon County Weed and Pest Control District Assistant Supervisor
(Posted July 7) - Responsible for technical assistance to Coordinated Resource Management (CRM) groups, grant writing, seasonal crew supervision, and coordination and presenting educational presentations throughout the county. The position may include extensive hiking with a backpack sprayer and spraying with other types of spray equipment. Weed and plant identification skills are also essential. Supervisor Sweetwater County Weed & Pest Control District
