California Invasive Plant Council (Cal-IPC)
A nonprofit, membership organization that issues policy statements and supports the California Invasive Weeds Awareness Coalition, which coordinates statewide Weed Awareness Day at California’s capitol.
Chicago Botanic Garden
A regional organization that has developed invasive plant species policy in terms of horticulture and ornamental plantings.
Environmental Law Institute (ELI)
An independent, Washington-based organization that conducts multi-state research and publishes analyses with recommendations for invasive plant policy.
Federal Interagency Committee for the Management of Noxious and Exotic Weeds (FICMNEW)
A coalition of federal agencies. FICMNEW members are tasked with implementing federal policy within their agencies.
Global Invasive Species Programme (GISP)
A partnership working to develop and support national and international policies that minimize impacts of invasive species.
National Association of Exotic Pest Plant Councils (NAEPPC)
An umbrella group for regional EPPCs that develops political strategies and promotes positions on invasive plant policy.
National Environmental Coalition for Invasive Species (NECIS)
A Washington, DC-based coalition of organizations that issues position papers, fact sheets, letters, and testimony to support ecologically sound prevention, research, control, and eradication of invasives.
National Invasive Species Council (NISC)
Produces the National Invasive Species Management Plan (PDF) which is implemented by federal agencies. NISC is advised by the non-federal national Invasive Species Advisory Committee (ISAC).
National Invasive Weed Awareness Week (NIWAW)
Held annually in Washington, DC. Policy issues are often discussed by participants who represent states and organizations from across the U.S.
North American Weed Management Association (NAWMA)
Representing on-the-ground land managers, NAWMA issues policy position papers annually.
The Nature Conservancy (TNC)
Engages lawmakers and agencies in developing public laws and allocating funds to prevent, detect, and control invasive species; provides background information on selected issues.
Rocky Mountain Weed Summit
A convention held in June 2008 to reach regional consensus on invasive plant initiatives and action plans.
Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS)
A national organization that promotes science-based legislation and policies regarding invasive species.
Weed Science Society of America (WSSA)
A professional organization that issues science policy reports and provides information to policymakers.
Western Weed Coordinating Committee (WWCC)
A nonprofit organization that annually brings together state and federal interests to work collaboratively on invasive plant issues in the West.
